Hello, we are livelihood support consultants!~The Council of Social Welfare, Tamura City

Not knowing what to do was like trying to catch a cloud floating in the sky. It all got started with us visiting 1,045 people living in 360 residences in four locations to collect data and try to get them familiar with our three faces which we had printed on leaflets which we distributed.
Although the people living in temporary housing have such problems as living in confined quarters which sometimes leaked when it rained and could hear their neighbors next door, they did not seem to experience problems with loneliness or privacy because they had moved into the housing as a community. However, the main concerns raised for consultation among people who still have their own house were; when will the nuclear accident problem be resolved, when will they be able to return home, to what degree will decontamination be done, as well as the question of compensation, etc.
Our coordination with the volunteer center is smooth and we are working daily in our support activities.
We intend to continue making daily visits as far as possible and try to understand the wishes and problems the victims face and serve as a liaison with the local authorities to help them regain their independence.
